We are very happy with the progress and growth of our swim team. Furthermore, there are some exciting things happening in the swimming community and we hope to see this interest and growth in the Overberg continue. We were unfortunate to have to call off our “Invitation gala” due to bad weather, but we are determined to host this event in the fourth term. We hope to see you swimmers ready to kickstart the new swimming season at this event!
A couple of our swimmers took part in a local gala hosted by Logos Robertson and achieved good results. The places received within their various age-groups were as follows:
50 M BACKSTROKE
Mieke Schoeman – 2nd place
50 M FREESTYLE
Freek Schaefer-Gerber – 1st place
Kari van As – 2nd place
Nina Houterman – 3rd place
Mieke Schoeman – 3rd place
50 M BACKSTROKE
Mia Streicher – 2nd place
Congratulations to all these swimmers on their lovely achievements. We would like to encourage swimmers to get involved and compete more and train hard. It has been a good season and we look forward to bettering with each step forward.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SWIMMING:
Currently our swim team enjoy professional training from Nikki Louw who trains them on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Her fee is R 500 per term. She provides valuable technique training and stamina building, teaching the learners the correct way of swimming each stroke. I, Miss Berndt, take the learners on Wednesdays and do speed work and fitness with the learners. All swimmers in our first team are expected to attend these training sessions regularly!
